Perhaps this is the most cumbersome option, not because it is difficult, that it is not, but because we have to take another step to cut the image we want with the Photoshop stroke.
Now we do not care if we have the saved or clipping path, since it does not work for Illustrator, but we do have to create it in order to export it to an ” .ai ” file and be able to open it in the program. This option is found in the « File> Export> Paths to Illustrator « menu . First it will ask us what path is the one that we want to export, since we can have several within the same photograph, and a place where we can save the file with the name we want.
In order to use the path on the photograph, we must open the files separately. When coming from the same origin, both will have the same proportions, but not the same size. While the image will be the same width and height as it was in Photoshop, the exported file will open with the dimensions that the path has and not the total image. This is a problem when adjusting exactly the two parts.

The solution I use is to create a square the size of the photograph that encompasses the path. In this way, when placed one over another, they will coincide perfectly.

With all the overlapping elements, we remove the square we made to adjust the stroke and create a clipping mask by pressing ” control + 7 ” in Windows or ” command + 7 ” in Mac ( Object menu> Clipping mask> Create ). So we managed to paste the image into the path by hiding the outer areas of the image that we do not want to have.
As in Indesign, we can adapt a text to the path ( Object menu> Text wrap> Create ) and place some elements over others without problems.
