Thread gauge, commonly known as screw gauge is a device used to measure the trail or the lead part of a thread or a screw head. Used extensively in metal manufacturing industries, thread gauges are an invincible tool to inspect and measure the proportions of components of tapped holes, nuts and bolts. They are often treated as a source for first-hand assurance in mechanical industries about the structure of tools and apparatus and detect if there are any faults in the design.
Thread gauges and its constituent kinds are mainly used to assert correctness of a product according to thread alignment. Size of thread gauges is defined by their thread diameter and pitch adhering to which their utilisation tends to differ. These thread gauges of varied sizes also come in different types which are further used for several purposes.

Applications of different types thread gauges
