Roughly around four miles from the visitor’s center, you’ll come across Royal Palm Visitor Center from where you can access the Anhinga Trail and the Gumbo Limbo Trail. These two trails are popular for hiking and mountain biking. It also provides great opportunities for fishing, boating and bird watching. Further, towards the coast, you can visit the Flamingo Marina which allows visitors to rent boats, take a boat tour and also kayak. If hunger calls, you can also unwind at the seasonal restaurant called Buttonwood Café. Remember, this restaurant closes in April. This lovely nature spot in Florida, Everglades is the place to go to not matter you are traveling with family or alone. Before venturing into the wild, make sure to get updates about the area from the visitor’s center.
If you are traveling to Everglades, it is also important to let the people at every center in the park know your itinerary. It is important to secure yourself rather than letting loose and stepping into trouble. Because the park is filled with dangerous wildlife, you should remember not to swim in the park. Since Everglades is a mere 3 hours from Key West, I also planned to make a quick trip to the east coast.
