Australian Labradoodles are gaining popularity with dog owners. They are suitable family pets with an athletic and graceful demeanor. When choosing a Labradoodle puppy, potential owners often wonder what the right color is for the animal. The breed has various standards when it comes to the dog’s coat. Australian Labradoodles are available in a wide range of colors. The dog’s coat is preferably a single solid australian labradoodles color, with little or no additional color scattered throughout. However, the colors of their fur at birth are usually not the same as the true colors of adults. The issue of acceptable coloration is of more concern to show dog owners and breeders as there are certain preferred standards.
Apricot
The apricot or gold layers come in different shades, but ideally, it is the same color as the inside of the ripe fruit. Older dogs’ fur lightens as they age, but Australian Labradoodle puppies should be this golden color without the roots being lighter than the topcoat.
Blue
A rare color for this breed, puppies are born black and have a blue undertone. As they age, their fur turns a medium to dark smoky blue.
Cream or chalk
The light-colored coat is found in many shades, including apricot cream. The shade of chalk is often thought of as white until compared to a true shade of white.
Chocolate
Considered rare among Labradoodle breeders, these puppies are born nearly black. They turn and remain dark chocolate in color. There are several variations on chocolates, such as the color of coffee. They are usually milk chocolate when they are puppies and develop a layer of silver chocolate with natural reflections from the sun when they are about three years old. Lavender coat also develops from chocolate-colored puppies and can be difficult to predict until the coat begins to turn pink or lilac. Parchment is another that starts out as chocolate in puppies but pales to a beige with a creamy or smoky complexion after about six weeks.
Red and caramel
The deep red coat is found as a solid color, with no lighter roots. A deep caramel coloring is also one of the common shades in Labradoodles.
Silver
Puppies that are born black with a gray skin tone can develop a silver coat as they age. One of the only color groups where a mixture of shades is normal, dogs develop a silvery coloration at the age of three, with silver and silver hairs all over the coat.
Another body coloring
The eyes vary from hazel to brown to black. Their noses and pigment should coordinate with their coat colors. The pigment is pink with caramel and chocolate-colored dogs. Black pigment with black, silver, blue, red, and apricot fur is preferred.
Deviations
Some dogs may have white fingertips or a small amount of hair on their chests. Parts, or patches, are also considered acceptable with a white face, body, or head. Since Australian Labradoodles generally enjoy spending time outdoors, they often develop lighter coat colors with natural bleaching from sunlight, especially as they age. The reflections of the sun’s fur at any age should not be confused with kemp. Kemp is light, coarse hair that is sometimes spread over dark fur. While it is allowed for show dogs, it is not a desirable trait in these circles. Ghost shades on dark or black dogs are also a possibility.
